NORWOOD – Norwood-Norfolk Central School expects to hire a “student resource officer” if state aid can fund the position.
The SRO position has been discussed at the BOE committee level, according to NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank.
“Our entire Board knows that the reinstatement this position, which was eliminated from the budget several years ago, is dependent upon the state aid allocation to NNCS,” he said in an email.
The SRO position would not simply be about bringing an armed officer into the school, he said.
“They would have the responsibility of implementing the FBI recommendations for a safe school environment, which concentrates on positive relationships and culture.”
