NORWOOD — A Norwood-Norfolk Central School bus was involved in an accident this morning.
“With about five students on board, the bus ran into a deer,” said NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank. “We followed our protocol and contacted the police and EMS."
It happened just outside of Norwood, past Perry's Market on the way out of town towards West Potsdam, the superintendent said.
The children were all checked by certified personnel and their parents were contacted, he said.
There were no injuries.
The bus had some minor damage to the driver's side bumper.
“After being cleared by the EMS, we sent another bus and these children went on with their day,” Cruikshank said. “While this time of year it's fairly normal for car-deer accidents, it's still concerning when school buses are involved. We're glad that our children are fine and this accident wasn't more serious. Thank you to driver Norm LaShomb and monitor Chris Ward for keeping our children calm during this event.”
