CANTON -- A Norfolk man who is accused of breaking his ex-girlfriend's jaw during an alleged domestic violence incident pleaded not guilty to a felony assault count in St. Lawrence County Court on Monday and was jailed.

A grand jury on May 9 handed up an indictment against Wayne R. Henry, 40. It charges him with second-degree assault and child endangerment.

Police at the time of his arrest on March 24 said Henry punched the ex-girlfriend in the face during an argument, fracturing her jaw.

Henry was arraigned Monday by Judge Jerome Richards and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond, pending further court action. He is represented by attorney Stephen Buzzell of Saranac Lake.

In other St. Lawrence County Court actions before Judge Richards on Monday:

• Sherry Kinney completed one year of interim probation for a felony count of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. Her felony plea was vacated and she pleaded to one count of third-degree possession of a forged instrument and was placed on three years' probation. While living at 44 Glenn St., Massena, in October 2017, Kinney and a co-defendant stole numerous checks from Byrns Realty, located in the building, and cashed them, police said at the time. She is represented by attorney Keith Massey of Ogdensburg.

• Terry Gordon of Antwerp waived his right to have the case heard by a grand jury and pleaded guilty to attempted third-degree burglary. He must comply with treatment and was released under probationary supervision to earn probation, according to the district attorney's office. He is facing the charge stemming from a Jan. 15 burglary in Clifton. He is represented by attorney Noreen McCarthy of Keene Valley.

• Edward R. Baker III was sentenced to one year of interim probation for one count of third-degree burglary. If he successfully completes the year, he will be allowed to plead to a lesser charge on May 4, 2020. Baker was originally charged stemming from a June 11, 2018 offense and pleaded to an indictment on March 1. He is represented by the Public Defender's Office.

• Jacob Brabant was arraigned on an indictment for aggravated family offense and second-degree criminal contempt. He was charged stemming from a Dec. 11 offense. He was released under probationary supervision with orders to re-appear on a later date. He is represented by the Public Defender's Office.
