CANTON -- None of St. Lawrence County’s 17 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been hospitalized, according to a representative of the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department.

Community Health Educator Brigette Conklin announced the new total during a livestream on the department’s Facebook page on Monday, March 30.

The 17 cases are up from 13 announced Sunday. She also said 75 people are quarantined.

Conklin said when they start seeing patients hospitalized, they will announce that.

“As the numbers of cases increase in the county, we will provide data on hospitalizations,” Conklin said on the broadcast. “None of our current cases are hospitalized.”

She said they aren’t reporting the number of negative and pending tests.

“We’re no longer reporting the number of tests performed,” she said. “We’re focusing our efforts on monitoring and management of those with and those at risk.”

They are legally prohibited from naming confirmed COVID-19 patients. She still suggests everyone maintain social distancing of six feet from others, wash their hands, and stay home unless it is essential, such as for groceries or a medical appointment, or employment at an essential business.

“As with all communicable disease cases … personal info is not shared nor will it be shared,” Conklin said. “We have confirmed cases throughout the county and most of these cases are mild and individuals may not believe they are sick."
