St. Lawrence County Public Health Department reports nine new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, April 25, bringing the countywide total to 171.

Public Health said 82 people have recovered and eight are hospitalized with the illness.

The county has tested 1,319 people as of April 23, the most recent data available, officials said.

Public Health officials say they expect the number of cases to continue to climb and it's important everyone stay home and wear a mask in public, and to only go into public for essential needs.

"St. Lawrence County is still seeing an increase in cases, and want to stress that we have not reached our peak. It is very important all residents continue to stay home as much as possible, wear a face covering and stay 6 feet away from others when venturing out for groceries, medical care, or work, wash hands with soap for 20 seconds often, and clean & disinfect commonly touched surfaces regularly," Public Health said.

Testing is being done through both St. Lawrence Health Systems and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. Testing is by appointment only. Call the hotline numbers below between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:
