CANTON – A Norfolk man was arrested by Canton police on April 14 on drug charges after they conducted an investigation of narcotics trafficking in the village.
Police arrested 37-year-old Jermel R. Mitchell of Norfolk, who was found to be in possession approximately 72 grams of a white chunky substance which tested positive for cocaine.
Mitchell was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance aggregated weight of more than 1-half ounce.
He was arraigned in Canton town court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail without bail.
The Canton Police Department was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, the New York State police K9 Unit and the Gouverneur Police Department.
