Last year making the headlines at Mohawk International Raceway were the drivers. So far in the first two events of the season Mother Nature has dominated the win column.

With persistent showers all week long, more rain anticipated and wet grounds Mohawk International Raceway officials decided it was best to hold the opener back for one more week.

The top drivers in all 5 classes will try again next week with a full program with the first leg of the MIR 358 Modified Series and the 30th running of the Memorial Cup. Chris Raabe won the event in 2018 for a second time after winning the event as a 358 Modified rookie in 2011. Tim Fuller, Carey Terrance, Brian McDonald and a host of 358 Modified stars will be looking to take the cup in 2019. Dirt Northeast Hall of Famer Dave Heaslip is the winningest driver in Memorial Cup history with a record 5 victories.

Long time supporter of MIR, Frenchie’s Chevrolet will be on hand as title sponsor the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman, Mod Lite, Novice Sportsman and Bandit will be on hand for the Memorial Day weekend event.

Reminder to all Canadian race fans that Canadian money is accepted at par at the main gate only all season long. Also don’t forget to grab a receipt at the toll booth and present it at the ticket window for a return bridge pass for that evening.
