MASSENA -- A Massena teen was arrested Tuesday on federal child pornography charges.

Tyler Hargrave, 19, was charged connection with an indictment for the transportation, receipt, and possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith.

Hargrave was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations special agents and New York State Police at his home in Massena.

He appeared in federal court in Syracuse was ordered detained in custody without bail pending a hearing scheduled for Friday, Jaquith's office said.

If convicted, Hargrave faces a mandatory minimum term of five years and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of supervised release of at least five years and up to life, as well as mandatory registration as a sex offender, the U.S. attorney's office said.

This case is being investigated by U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the New York State Police and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sahar L. Amandolare.
