MASSENA -- Massena sixth grade public school teacher Nicole Terminelli announced Monday that she is seeking the Democratic seat for the 14th Legislative District in St. Lawrence County.
Greg Paquin, who currently holds the seat will not seek re-election.
Terminelli told supporters that she does her best work as a part of a team, when people with different experiences and strengths generate ideas together.
“I am a planner, an analyzer and I assess options. I am dedicated to having a positive impact on the future, that’s the biggest reason I became a teacher, and these same strengths will serve me well as a county legislator to make progress for people,” said Terminelli, in a press release from her campaign.
Terminelli went on to state her reason for running.
“I want to work to get living wage jobs in our community; fight for better working conditions and benefits for workers; advocate for the right to collective bargaining; help to improve infrastructure to grow the economy; work with local officials to bring their vision to realization at the county level; and improve access to healthcare,”
She pledged no matter someone's political views or differing opinions, she would listen to people, and bring their concerns, struggles and ideas to the county level, the release said.
“I want to create a better community and a better county for my children, for your children, and most importantly for their children. We need to work together to move St. Lawrence Country together.”
