MASSENA -- The chairperson of the Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers will have a hearing on Jan. 22 to determine whether or not she will be removed from the board.
It will be at 1 p.m. in the Town Hall’s second floor board room.
On Jan. 4, Town Supervisor Steve O’Shaughnessy sent a letter to Sue Bellor, MMH board chair, saying he is removing her from the board because of the hospital’s poor financial performance.
She is entitled to a hearing before she can be fired from the board.
The letter came two days after Bellor criticized the supervisor during public comment of a town meeting. She spoke against his choosing a Canton-Potsdam Hospital/St. Lawrence Radiology doctor who she said does not live in the MMH service area and represents a conflict of interest because of a contract St. Lawrence Radiology has with MMH.
Bellor has since pushed back against the supervisor’s allegations. See story for more details.
