Local musician selected to participate in International Bluegrass Music Association Bluegrass program

CANTON --- Barb Heller, North Country Public Radio announcer and host of the acoustic music program String Fever, has been selected to participate in the International Bluegrass Music Association Leadership Bluegrass program, taking place in Nashville in March.

Heller is one of only twenty-five individuals invited to take part in Leadership Bluegrass 2017. Other members of the prestigious class include musicians, producers, and educators from around the United States. Now in its 17th year, Leadership Bluegrass is an intensive three-day program of advanced level learning experiences designed to further bluegrass music and the bluegrass music industry.

“We are so very proud of Barb”, said station manager, Ellen Rocco. “She is an extraordinary radio host and champion of the music.As a participant in Leadership Bluegrass, we know she will be a great representative of the North Country.”

Heller is a well-known local singer and guitarist, and is a frequent host at bluegrass and other music festivals around the northeast. Her acoustic music show, String Fever, airs on North Country Public Radio, Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m.
