OGDENSBURG -- Longtime Ogdensburg attorney Marcia LeMay is again seeking the city court judge seat.
The 1988 Ogdensburg Free Academy graduate made her official announcement today on the steps of city hall.
“Ogdensburg City Court, and St. Lawrence County Court. My first jury trial in 1996 was right here in Ogdensburg City Court. After 3.5 years in the DA’s Office, I was then named St. Lawrence County Public Defender and at the time was the youngest Chief Public Defender in New York State. I continued to appear and try cases in County Court and in justice courts, added some family court experience, and learned how to be an administrator. After a year and a half as Public Defender, I joined Charlie Nash in his law firm Nash & Palm to replace the retiring Charlie Palm, and the law firm was renamed Nash, Palm & LeMay the next year. I continued to try cases in City Court, the justice courts, in County Court, in Family Court, and added some Supreme Court and Surrogate Court trials to my repertoire,” LeMay said in her speech.
LeMay says her experience on the on the judicial diversion team, which is better known as drug court, makes her a good fit to deal with the problems facing the city.
LeMay has more than 22 years of experience ranging from chief public defender, to assistant district attorney. She has also operated her own private firm.
LeMay earned degrees at Albany Law School and St. Lawrence University.
“I believe each and every one of us has a duty to use our skills and talents to make our community a better place to live, and serving as your City Court Judge will best utilize my talents and experience to serve our community,” she said. “I have the experience, qualifications, and temperament necessary to be an effective Ogdensburg City Court Judge and ask that you please support me in my campaign.”
