CANTON -- The jury in the Christopher Hebert murder case found him guilty of second-degree murder.
The jury decided he killed Lacey Yekel in Massena around June 7, 2014. Prosecutors said he beat and strangled her.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 6 at 9:15 a.m. Hebert until then will be held in the St. Lawrence County jail without bail.
Yekel's mother, Bonnie Lamay and cousin Bobbi Jo French were in court and began crying when the verdict was read.
The verdict came after the jury asked to hear recordings of the defendant saying he killed Yekel.
