HOPKINTON -- A barn on County Rt. 56 in Hopkinton was destroyed by fire last night.
Investigators report they are still looking into the cause.
The barn, at 1260 County Rt. 56 and owned by Richard Eakins, was described by a neighbor as a shavings mill.
Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson volunteers received the alarm at 7:15 p.m. Tri-Town rescue followed, and departments from Parishville, North Lawrence, Lawrenceville, West Stockholm, Potsdam, Nicholville, Brasher-Winthrop, St. Regis Falls and Dickinson were on the scene.
Standing by were Colton and Moira volunteers.
Investigators Matt Kielmeier, Allyson Brown, Brian Sullivan and Jerry Wilson were all at the scene.
Eakins reportedly has insurance on the structure, which was declared a total loss.
