CANTON -- Ten jurors have been seated in the murder trial of Christopher Hebert.

The 47-year-old is being tried for the 2014 murder of Lacey Yekel, who was 25 at the time of her death.

Hebert was arraigned in June 2018 in St. Lawrence County Court on an indictment charging him with Yekel’s murder.

He pleaded not guilty and has been held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton.

In a prepared statement released at the time of Hebert’s arrest, St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua said Hebert is alleged "to have intentionally caused the death of then 25 year old Lacey Leigh Yekel, on or about June 7, 2014."

On Aug. 29, 2014, a body that police described at the time as “partially wrapped” was found across from the NYSARC bottle return, off state Route 420 in Massena. It turned out to be Yekel.

State police say they made the forensic identification based on dental and DNA comparisons. Hebert's arrest comes on the heels of a nearly four-year investigation.
