CANTON – The state Division of Criminal Justice Services is sending grants worth $137,600 to the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office.
The money will partially pay salary and benefits for six of the eight attorneys in the office, according to a news release from DA Mary Rain. It will also help pay for equipment for the office, such as computers, she said.
“These grants will not only assist the county during fiscally difficult times but, more importantly, it will be instrumental in providing public safety because, it allows me to hire experienced attorneys to successfully prosecute violent criminals and drug dealers,” Rain said.
“To that end, I sent two staff members, at no cost to the county to a training on finding and writing more grants so I may more effectively fight crime.”
