GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur woman was charged after leaving her 5-year old son unsupervised where he left their home in his pajamas and entered a pickup truck while waiting for a school bus, according to Gouverneur police.
Christina L. Fifield, 30, was charged with endangering the welfare of child at 3:52 p.m. April 12 at the Gouverneur Police Department, police said. The alleged incident took place April 3.
Fifiled is alleged fallen asleep which allowed the young boy to leave the home and enter an unlocked Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was parked in the driveway with the key left in the ignition, police said.
The child was able to turn on the windshield wipers and turn signal while he awaited his school bus, officers said.
Fifield was additionally charged April 17 with second-degree criminal contempt, police said. Police discovered that she violated a St. Lawrence County Family Court order of protection requiring her not to commit and crimes against the child victim.
Unrelated to that investigation, Fifield was cited for disobeying a traffic control device and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation or a motor vehicle on April 20 on West Main Street.
She was issued an appearance tickets returnable to the Gouverneur court.
