Gouverneur man jailed on $5,000 bail on sexual abuse, assault, endangering the welfare of a child charges

GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man was jailed on $5,000 bail May 18 following an alleged domestic dispute, according to Gouverneur police

Dustin A. Hitsman, 31, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury, second-degree strangulation, first-degree degree sexual abuse (contact by forcible compulsion), second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree menacing, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, officers said.

He was arrested after an investigation regarding a domestic dispute, police said.

Hitsman was arraigned at Fowler Town Court before Judge Young and held on $5,000 bail and transported to the St. Lawrence County Correction Facility until a return court date.
