GOUVERNEUR — The St. Lawrence County Fire Chief's Association named Vincent Ferry, a volunteer fireman from the Gouverneur Fire Department as its Firefighter Of The Year for 2019.
The announcement was made at a meeting at the Lawrenceville Fire Station. Vinny, as he is known, began his volunteer service with Edwards & DeGrasse Fire, followed by Richville Fire and now Gouverneur.
With 45 years of service to the community, Ferry was an easy choice for the honor.
Ferry is a St Lawrence County Fire Coordinator, dive team member, past president of the county chiefs and also serves as a director of Believe NNY Inc. who assists volunteers with cancer or other life threatening disease during their time of need.
