CANTON -- GardenShare’s annual Local Food Guide lists farmers markets, farm stands, U-pick orchards, restaurants, grocers, and other outlets that offer food raised in St. Lawrence County.

GardenShare is running a cover art contest for the cover of the 2017 Local Food Guide.

Artwork to be considered can include photography or any two-dimensional piece that can be re-printed.

Artwork should illustrate the variety of local food available in the region. To enter, send a high resolution file to office@gardenshare.org by March 31, 2017.

Winning artwork will be featured on the cover of the 2017 St. Lawrence County Local Food Guide with acknowledgement to the artist.

It is possible that runners up may be used in the Local Food Guide, as well, as space permits.

The farms listed in this guide sell food they have raised themselves or food they have produced themselves using largely local ingredients.

The restaurants listed in the guide showcase local food and buy from local farms. Advertisers help underwrite the cost of the Local Food Guide.

Production of the 2017 Local Food Guide is underway. Listings for farms range from no cost to $25. Advertisements in the Guide range from $100 to $500, with 10,000 copies distributed around St. Lawrence County.
