MASSENA -- Volunteers from the North Country Chapter of the American Red Cross provided immediate emergency aid to four people after flooding affected their duplex on Water Street in Massena late Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has downgraded the amount of rainfall and possibility for additional flooding expected today.

The Red Cross provided free financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to the four adults displaced by the flooding in Massena. Names of the occupants were not released.

Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items. In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers said they will remain available to help those affected by the flooding as they navigate the road to recovery.
