MASSENA -- Eight candidates will be on the June 9 ballot for seven seats on the Massena Public Library Board of Trustees. Candidates will appear on the ballot in alphabetical order: John Bain, Susan Gray, Marie Kirwan, Fred LaChance, Jeanna Matthews, Linda McDonald, Patricia Ryan and Joseph Savoca.

Terms will be from one to three years with the successful candidates’ terms determined by lot.

The proposition to establish the Massena Public Library as a school district public library and the library trustee election are held in conjunction with the Massena Central School District budget vote. All voting will be done via absentee ballot. The library propositions will be on the back of the ballot. Only one absentee ballot may be provided per household. If a household requires more than one absentee ballot, contact the District Clerk at (315) 764-3700, ext. 3008 or cprairie@mcs.k12.ny.us. All absentee ballots will be mailed with a postage-paid return envelope. Envelopes must be returned by 5 p.m. on June 9.

The school district’s Notice of Annual Meeting is available online at www.mcs.k12.ny.us/apps/news/article/1223717. More information about the Massena Public Library’s establishment of a school district public library is on the library’s website www.massenapubliclibrary.org.
