Cranberry Lake writer Matthew J. Glavin’s book “Adirondack Treasure: The Bonaparte Legacy” is scheduled for release in e-format next month.
Glavin’s novel takes the true story of Joseph Bonaparte, former King of Spain, and spins a compelling story about a legend that has been rumored in the Adirondack Mountains for more than 180 years.
Glavin’s story focuses on character Joseph Benton, who has a 200 year old bible handed down from his famous ancestor Joseph Bonaparte, the former King of Spain and older brother to Napoleon. Inside the bible is a cipher that family legend says leads to a magnificent treasure stolen from the Spanish Royal Treasury when King Joseph fled Spain.
This treasure hunt blends historical facts with a story and characters creating tension pitting environmentalist vs. developer and friend vs. friend.
The search involves riddles and ciphers and leads to murder, romance and intrigue.
The former king actually owned 150,000 acres surrounding what today is known as Lake Bonaparte. The story takes the reader from Lake Bonaparte to Cranberry Lake, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.
“Adirondack Treasure: The Bonaparte Legacy” will be available for $9.99 at Amazon.com, Barns and Noble.com/Nook, and other e-book outlets. Print books will be released in 2012.
