NORWOOD -- Team Claire and the NNCS Key Club want families to “get fit for a cure” at the fifth annual Claire's Fitness Fun Day on Saturday, April 6, from 1-4 p.m. at the Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Admission is $5 each for children, adults and children 3 years old and younger are admitted free.

The proceeds from the event benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of 8-year-old Claire Nezezon, of Norwood, who has cystic fibrosis.

Children who attend can try various forms of fitness like zumba, hockey, taekwondo, yoga, basketball, and more.

The players of the North Country Tigers will organize football games this year, and the students of the exercise science program at SUNY Potsdam will lead kids in sports conditioning and fitness challenges.

Vanessa Babcock, our local world, national, and state record holder in powerlifting will be there to get the kids warmed up.

"It's amazing to see a community work so hard to support a wonderful little girl and all those fighting cystic fibrosis, at an event that gets kids out and moving for a day of fun, while trying out so many different forms of exercise," says Amy Haught, hockey coach with Norwood Norfolk Minor Hockey. Haught will be organizing the events hockey activities.

To encourage kids to try everything, organizers are staging the "Get Fit For A Cure Scavenger Hunt" with prizes for the first 100 finisher.

Other activities include an obstacle course, crafts, character appearances with the North Country Crusaders, face painting, snack bar, and a silent auction/raffle with items geared towards families.
