MALONE — Emily Martz, Democratic candidate for New York State Senate in the 45th District, suffered minor dehydration after participating in the 10K Star of the North road race in Malone Sunday morning.
She was treated for dehydration at Alice Hyde Medical Center.
Several towns along the eastern border of St. Lawrence County are part of the 45th district, which also includes the Saranac Lake and Plattsburgh areas.
Martz, an avid runner, regularly competes in road races, according to a press release from her campaign manager, John Reilly.
“I have been an avid runner since my teens and was caught off guard by the heat," Martz said.
She offered her thanks to race officials, volunteers and staff at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
Martz is scheduled to return to the campaign trail Tuesday, Sept. 4.
