Carpenter's apprentices being recruited in North Country

The New England Carpenters Training Fund (AKA Northeast Carpenters Apprenticeship Fund) is recruiting 50 carpenter apprentices between now and June 5, 2020, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications are available online at https://www.nectf.org/. Applicants who do not have Internet access may visit their local library or nearest New York State Department of Labor Career Center (https://www.labor.ny.gov/career-center-locator/location-list-all.php). Applications are also available at the Rochester information sessions indicated below.

Prior to submitting an application, applicants are required to attend an information session at the New England Carpenters Training Fund (NECTF), 21 Jetview Drive, Rochester, NY 14624. The sessions are on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. If the first Monday falls on a holiday, the session will be on the second Monday of that month at 6 p.m.

At the conclusion of the information session, a code will be provided, which is required to complete an application. If assistance is required for completing an on-line application, visit the NECTF listed above, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED) (proof will be required at time of application), and must attest in writing that they are physically able to perform the work of a carpenter, which may include working on scaffolds and in confined spaces; working under conditions of inclement weather, such as rain, snow, cold, heat, and direct sunlight; performing constant repetitive motions; climbing and working from heights; lifting items that weigh a minimum of 50 lbs.; standing and stooping for prolonged periods of time.

Applicants must pass a drug test, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture. If applicant tests positive, they cannot reapply for one year.

Applicants must be willing to attend related instruction classes as required.

Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and related instruction classes.

Applicants must live in the geographical jurisdiction which includes St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties in addition to much of the rest of upstate New York.

Applicants must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to indenture.
