CANTON -- The town and village here have posted a special webpage linked from the municipal website to disseminate information about COVID-19 and local response effort.
The website is at https://cantonny.gov/covid-19-info/.
Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley said the county is working with municipalities directly on providing information on the virus, holding weekly conference calls with municipal leaders.
The Canton COVID-19 page is a means to spread the word on local response and provide guidance to local residents.
The page provides dated entries of various coronavirus related measures the town and village are taking in coordination with the county.
Most recently, the town and village have decided to close the recreation pavilion until March 23.
“It’s our job, on a local level, to get the information out,” Ashley said.
On a more direct level, the supervisor said last week the town and village bought six free standing sanitation stations for the municipal building. “And we started the education process internally here,” the supervisor said.
The Canton COVID-19 webpage also contains a “What you should do” section with public health graphics on personal response to the outbreak, and direct links the county, state and federal COVID-19 update pages.
