CANTON — Voters in Canton passed the $31,640,149 budget last night and approved transportation and library propositions.
The budget easily passed 405 to 55, according to school officials. As did the transportation proposition, which was approved 401 to 55.
The Canton Free Library sought an additional $30,000 from voters on proposition #3 and they overwhelmingly approved it 388-73.
Four candidates elected to the school board included incumbent Keith Rossner (369 votes), who was elected to a three-year term; Andrew Moses (334 votes, was elected to a two-year term; Eileen Raymond (350 votes), was elected to a three-year term and Steven Sanderson (338) votes), was elected to a three-year term.
The tax levy will raise $279,130 while the district plans to use over $2 million from its fund balance and $400,000 from reserves to balance the budget. The estimated tax rate for 2019-20 is $22.48 per $1,000 of assessment.
