CANTON -- How is the global coronavirus pandemic affecting individuals and communities in different parts of the world? What are people seeing and experiencing? How is everyday life changing? And how is COVID-19 changing the way we see the world? These are some of the questions explored through “COVID-19 Diaries,” a crowdsourced audio series produced by Canton-based Weave News.

On March 16, Weave News issued a public call for short audio reports from citizen reporters around the world and put together a team of citizen journalists to oversee the project. To date, the organization has received reports from 20 countries on six continents. Many of these reports have been published as part of the Interweaving podcast, produced by Weave News since early 2019. The podcast is available on the Weave News website as well as on podcast platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and Stitcher.

“At a time when borders are tightening and fear is on the rise, we think it is essential to hear - really hear - the voices of others,” said John Collins, founder and Editorial Director of Weave News. “These stories can help us understand not only the unique struggles facing people in places far and near, but also the common elements that bind us together during this global health crisis.”

The most recent episode of Interweaving, published on April 14, features “COVID-19 Diaries” reports from Boston, Mass.; Mbabane, Swaziland; Strasbourg, France; and Ann Arbor, Mich.
