POTSDAM — The Bruce J. Henderson Memorial Scholarship was approved at the Potsdam Central School Board of Education meeting Jan. 14.
The annual scholarship, in memory of Henderson, will award $1,000 and a plaque to a senior male athlete.
An explanation as to why the scholarship was created said:
“Bruce was a 3-sport star athlete at PCS in the class of 1972. The scholarship is being created to encourage, commend and support at PCS male athlete who was exhibited the same qualities and characteristics Bruce did as an athlete. The award criteria: An athlete who displayed an exceptional work ethic both in practice and in games; an athlete who is an exceptionally effective team player; an athlete with an extremely positive attitude in all circumstances on the playing field; an athlete who encourages other team players to perform at their highest level both on and off the field.
