SANFORDVILLE -- The Fourth Annual St. Lawrence County Maple Producers' Tree Tapping Ceremony took place last weekend at the Rutley Maple Farm.

Local dignitaries, including all four of the state legislators that represent the county, were present, along with Maple Queen Betsy Foote, Maple Princess Kylea McAdam, and their court.

State Sen. Joseph Griffo got the honor of hammering in the ceremonial tap as Assemblywoman Addie Russell, at left with the bucket, Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush, at right, and county Maple Producers President Hugh Newton, behind Griffo, watch.

This coming weekend is the second of the two Maple Weekends, where people get to visit sugar houses and sample the goodies.
