CANTON – After strong opposition from landlords to a proposal to impose yearly fees on rental properties, Canton village government has ordered a review of Chapter 248 Rental Property Law.
The Board of Trustees pulled the proposal and has appointed a volunteer committee to handle the review. Its first organizational meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at the Canton Municipal Building.
Mary Ann Ashley and Sylvia Kingston will be the village representatives along with volunteers Elia Filippi, Ron Houle, Greg Howe, Tom Jenison and Howard Pitkin.
The meeting is open and the public is welcome.
