A total of $1.12 million in Restore New York funding was announed today for brownfield cleanup and building rehabilitation and renovation projects in Ogdensburg, Massena and Potsdam.
The City of Ogdensburg will receive $500,000 for the demolition of two buildings, part of a project focusing on the city’s Brownfield Opportunity Area Plan.
The Village of Massena is set to receive $500,000 for rehabilitation of the Slavins Building.
And the Village of Potsdam will be getting $120,000 for he renovation of Congden Hall, part of the rehabilitation of the old Clarkson downtown campus buildings.
These grants are part of Round 4 of the Restore New York Communities Initiative. It supports municipal revitalization efforts across the state, intended to reinvigorate downtowns and generate economic opportunity.
Cities, towns and villages were all eligible to apply for support for projects that include demolition, deconstruction, rehabilitation, or reconstruction of vacant, abandoned, condemned and surplus properties.
