LISBON -- Ten residents and two employees at United Helpers' Lisbon Individualized Residential Alternative have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from United Helpers.

United Helpers was notified on Saturday, April 18 that an employee who works at the Lisbon IRA had tested positive for the virus, according to a statement from United Helpers CEO Steve Knight. "Primary healthcare providers for the residents were immediately called and testing was performed on all of the facility’s 13 residents," Knight's statement said.

On Wednesday, April 22, United Helpers officials say were informed that 10 of the residents had tested positive, as well as one additional member of the care team. Several staff have been tested, with results pending.

“At the recommendation of the primary care provider, the three residents that have tested negative have been placed in isolation,” Knight said in a prepared statement.

United Helpers say they “continue to follow guidelines outlined by the CDC, the NYS Department of Health, NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), St. Lawrence County Public Health, and other governing bodies.”

United Helpers says people can go to www.unitedhelpers.org/COVID for more information.
