Castine, ME – Three different players tallied five or more points as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team earned a 15-7 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win v. host Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Mariners fall to 0-4 and 0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Roos opened up a 6-4 halftime lead paced by a pair of goals from Noah Robinson, a goal and two assists from Andrew Garrett and a goal and assist from Hunter Olsen.

Canton opened up an 11-4 lead early in the fourth quarter as Robinson completed the hat trick as the Roos cruised to victory.

Robinson led all players with six points on four goals and two assists, while Jacob Facey added four goals, one assist and a team-high nine ground balls. Olsen dished out a game-best four assists to go with a goal.

Garrett finished with a goal and two helpers, Dante Coco and Brad Sandroni scored twice each, and Jeffrey Perez added a goal. Brandon Schmidt posted eight ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Eli Kocsis finished with six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Nick Walberger went 11-for-17 on faceoffs.

The Roos held the upper hand in shots on goal (31-20), faceoffs (15-10) and ground balls (58-56). Canton went 2-for-5 on extra-man opportunities while killing off all three of its penalties.

Jayden Wilson paced the Mariners with two goals and three assists, while Zeke Tocci totaled three goals and one assist.

Justin LaDuke made nine saves in the win, while Parker Hornung turned aside four shots over the final 13 minutes. Matthew Emery made 16 stops in the loss.
