Saints women's lacrosse defeats Bard, 16-6

Sophomore Kylie Murphy scored six goals and senior Alexandra LaMotte tallied five to lead the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to a 16-6 win over Bard in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.

Murphy also recorded two assists for eight points, while Morgan Barlow added two goals and an assist. Jamie Allan added one goal and one assist, while Liddy DeConto and Nicole Stanton also scored for the Scarlet and Brown. Five different members of the Saints' squad each caused one turnover, while Isabel Silvia recorded two assists and led the Saints with six draw control wins.

The Raptors got off to a quick start, trading goals with the Saints and taking a 3-2 lead with a goal from Caleigh DeCaprio at 18:47.

St. Lawrence posted a 9-1 run to build an 11-4 lead at halftime.

The Saints continued to outscore the Raptors 5-2 in the second frame to seal the win.

Gillian Adkins led the Raptors with two goals, while Melissa Rosenthal, DeCaprio, Dylan McDonald and Nicole Ellin also scored for Bard. Rosenthal, DeCaprio and goalkeeper Roxanne Rouskas each grabbed two ground balls, while Ellin caused two tunovers.

Saints' goalkeeper Olga Lukas grabbed a team-best six ground balls and recorded a season-high 14 saves, while Bard starter Izabel Kickner made four saves and Rouskas closed the second half with six saves.

St. Lawrence outshot Bard 33-27 and held a 26-20 edge in shots on goal. The Saints also edged the Raptors in ground balls 14-13.

The Scarlet and Brown improved to 3-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while Bard fell to 4-7 and 0-6.

The Saints will host SUNY Canton on Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
