The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team fell to Union College 53-41 in Liberty League play Saturday afternoon at Burkman Gymnasium in Canton, N.Y.
Junior Jenny Scudder led the Saints with eight points and five rebounds. Sophomores Meghan Hynes and Meghan O'Connor and junior Kaelyn Kohlasch added six points each.
The score was tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter, but the Dutchwomen pulled away in the second quarter, leading 28-18 heading into the locker room. The Saints nearly matched the Dutchwomen in the third and fourth quarters, but were unable to mount a comeback.
Union was led senior Erin Lyons, who tallied 13 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Sophie Borg scored 13 points and sophomore Nicole Conley followed with 12.
The Saints fell to 7-11 and 4-6 in Liberty League play, as Union improved to 9-8 and 5-4.
The Saints will look to bounce back next Friday night as they travel to Geneva, N.Y. to take on William Smith at 6 p.m.
