Seniors Charlton Kelly and Jethro Dede scored to lead the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the RIT Tigers in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, New York.

With today's win, the Saints improved to 6-2-2 on the season and 3-1-1 in conference play, while the Tigers fell to 4-5-1 and 0-4-0.

Kelly opened scoring for the Saints, with his second goal of the season, in the 16th minute of play, with an unassisted goal to give the Scarlet and Brown a 1-0 lead over the Tigers.

At the half, the Saints controlled an 8-3 shot advantage, including a 6-0 advantage in shots on goal.

In the 64th minute, Ryan Crouse fed Dede, who scored his sixth goal of the season and gave the Saints an insurance goal and a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers looked to rally in the 89th minute with a free-kick opportunity, but Mike Smith made the save, keeping RIT scoreless.

"Another tough conference battle with a well-coached team," said head coach Mike Toshack. "The team showed tons of character and desire considering the travel they put in this week. A good performance and some very good soccer at times created many chances and we defended well as a team. Now we turn our heads to next week with three tough games coming up."

Simon Garno led the Tigers with two shots on goal, while Nick Simone, Dakota Kegler and Dante DeSisti each added one.

The Saints finished with a 13-12 shot advantage including an 11-5 shots on goal edge.

Smith recorded five saves in the win, while Will Sokol made nine saves in goal for RIT.

St. Lawrence will host SUNY Canton in non-conference action on Tuesday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
