The St. Lawrence University men's rowing team was second in the varsity eight and won the novice eight in a three-team regatta hosted by Ithaca College on the Cayuga Inlet on Saturday.
The races were the first of the spring for the Saints, who had their first two regattas of the spring cancelled due to inclement weather and dangerous conditions. The boats raced into a head wind that grew stronger in the second 1,000 meters, then tapered towards the end of the course.
The novice eight opened the day with an impressive performance, besting two boats from Ithaca by 11 and 32 seconds.
The Saints' varsity eight was nearly 15 seconds faster than Skidmore, but Ithaca had the fastest time of the day. St. Lawrence was also second to Ithaca in the second varsity eight.
