Junior Ryan Lough's fourth goal of the season in the third period helped No. 17 St. Lawrence to a 1-1 tie with Colgate in the Saints' final regular season home game at Appleton Arena.

The tie is the seventh of the season for St. Lawrence, tying the program record set by the 2009-10 team. The Saints head into next weekend's games with a 15-10-7 overall record and 11-5-4 mark in conference play. Colgate is now 8-18-6 overall with a 6-11-3 record in ECAC Hockey contests.

After a scoreless first period, the visiting Raiders took a 1-0 lead at 9:41 of the second when Brett Corkey sprung Tim Harrison for a breakaway. Though Harrison's initial shot was saved by Kyle Hayton, his momentum carried him – and the puck – into the net. Although it was initially rule no goal on the ice, officials ruled the puck had crossed the line before the net was dislodged, giving Colgate the 1-0 lead.

The Saints picked up momentum in the second period and outshot the Raiders 16-8 and Hayton made a number of key saves, including 14 in the third period, to keep the Saints within reach. Less than 30 seconds before Lough's goal, Hayton made three consecutive saves; the first off an odd-man rush, the second on the rebound at the side of the goal and the third while flat on his back – trying to corral the loose puck at the edge of the crease while Colgate jammed away. But he closed the door, giving the Saints the chance to pull even.

The next shift, after a battle in the neutral zone, Alex Gilmour made a play at the line to send Lough into the offensive zone down the left wing side. The Manotick, Ontario, native ripped a shot from the left circle that beat Colgate's Colton Point under the glove just inside the far post for a 1-1 game.

In the overtime period, Hayton made the only save between the two goaltenders. The Saints had a number of chances in the final minute of play but all sailed just wide of the goal.

Hayton finished with 33 saves on the night, while Point made 39 stops for Colgate.

With wins for Union and Harvard and ties for both Cornell and St. Lawrence, the top four in the ECAC Standings remain the same. The Saints need just one point to secure the first round bye and will finish out the regular season at Dartmouth and Harvard next weekend.

The Saints celebrated the eight members of the men's hockey Class of 2017 with a postgame ceremony honoring Mike Graham, Woody Hudson, Drew Smolcynski, assistant captains Eric Sweetman, Ben Masella and Gavin Bayreuther and captain Alexander Dahl as well as equipment manager Nick Bayruns.
