POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team (12-9-3) heads to Rochester, N.Y. to play the No. 1 RIT Tigers (23-1-1) in the ECAC West semifinals on Saturday, Mar. 3 at 2 p.m.
The contest will mark the Bears first appearance in the semifinal game after Potsdam upset the No. 7 ranked Elmira Soaring Eagles by a score of 2-1. Junior Jen Conophy was the star in goal, recording 46 saves in the win and secured the Bears’ 12th win on the season, a program record. Senior defenseman Breanna Roy and sophomore forward Jenn Crawford found the back of the net in the victory as the sixth-seeded Bears held Elmira scoreless on five power play opportunities. Potsdam has saved their best play for the end of the season as they have gone 8-2-2 over the last 12 games under ECAC West Coach of the Year Jay Green.
The game will be followed by Oswego taking on No. 5 Plattsburgh at 5 p.m. The Cardinals (15-1-2) enter the contest as the two seed and Oswego (11-13-2) is the 4th seed.
Tickets are on sale now at the Gordon Field House Box Office or by calling 585-475-5121. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students while children under five are free. The championship game will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
