One night after celebrating a thrilling overtime victory against Arizona State, 8th-ranked Clarkson was on the other end on Saturday, falling 3-2 in extra play at Cheel Arena against the 13th-ranked Sun Devils.

The Golden Knights, who defeated Arizona State 2-1 on Friday, go to 17-6-2 overall. Clarkson, which is tied for first place in ECAC Hockey with a 10-3 league mark, returns to league play for the remainder of the regular season starting with next weekend's home series vs Yale and Brown.

Clarkson came out flying against the Sun Devils and took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals 2:24 apart early in the first period.

Freshman defenseman Dustyn McFaul (Waterdown, ONT) started the scoring with a highlight-reel goal for his first collegiate score. McFaul took a pass from classmate Mathieu Gosselin (Quebec City, QUE), skated down the left wing with a full head of steam and behind the Sun Devils net, finishing off the play with a perfect wraparound goal at 5:54. Junior blueline partner Connor McCarthy (LaSalle, QUE) also assisted.

At 8:18, senior Haralds Egle (Liepaia, Latvia) connected for his team-high12th goal of the season, tipping in a shot from the point by sophomore defenseman Brian Hurley (Dellwood, MN). Sophomore Josh Dunne (O'Fallon, MO) also assisted.

The Sun Devils came to life late in the stanza and got on the scoreboard at 18:21 on PJ Marrocco's 10th goal of the season.

Arizona State appeared to have tied the game with 15.5 seconds left in the period, but the play was ruled kicked in and was disallowed.

The visitors came through with their second goal on a shot by Brett Gruber at 5:20 of the middle frame.

At 1:25 of overtime, Tyler Busch knocked in a rebound off Brinson Pasichnuk's shot for the game-winner, handing Clarkson its first overtime loss in seven games (4-1-2).

The Knights held a 29-25 edge in shots. Frank Marotte (Longueuil, QUE) made 22 saves.

Both teams were scoreless on the power play, with Clarkson going o-of-2 and the Sun Devils 0-of-1
