POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam soccer player Eduardo Figueroa has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14.
Last weekend the sophomore scored four goals to guide the Bears to a 1-0-1 record. On Friday, Figueroa recorded the first hat trick of his career in Potsdam's 4-3 win at Buffalo State. Figueroa scored the game-winning goal against the Bengals in the seesaw victory. On Saturday, the forward notched the Bears' second tally in a 2-2 draw at Fredonia.
The big weekend moved him into sole possession of second place on the Bears all-time scoring list with 35 points (14g, 7a) and into a tie for the program lead in goals scored with 14. This season, Figueroa leads his team with career-highs in goals (8) and points (8g, 2a, 18pts).
Potsdam returns home this weekend to host first place Brockport and seventh place Geneseo. The Bears host the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. on Friday and the Blue Knights at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
