Deputies charge Gouverneur, Canton residents with DWI

GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur woman was charged with driving while intoxicated on U.S. Highway 11 Saturday morning, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.

Pamela S. Dean, 44, was charged with first-offense DWI, speed in zone, improper passing, failure to comply, speeding and refusal to take a breath test, officers said.

Deputies allegedly tries to stop her on U.S. Highway 11 around 8 a.m. in DeKalb. She reportedly failed to stop for officers before finally stopping in Gouverneur.

Officers said she refused a breath test at the sheriff’s office.

Dean was cited and released.

CANTON — A Canton man was charged with driving while intoxicated on State Highway 310 on Saturday, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.

Michael W. Matthews, 25, was charged with first-offense DWI and failure to keep right around 1 p.m., officers said.

His blood-alcohol content (BAC) was reportedly .14%, deputies said.

He was cited and released.
