At a recent meeting of the executive committee of the St Lawrence Republican County Committee, a number of endorsements were made for Republican candidates seeking election in this year's November election.
As a result of retirements, there are three Supreme Court justice vacancies in the 4th Judicial District. Republican candidates receiving the Executive Committee's endorsement were James E. Walsh and Dianne N. Freestone of Saratoga County and Michael R. Cuevas of Schenectady County.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin Wells and St. Lawrence County Clerk Mary Lou Rupp have announced that neither will be running for re-election. Each of them has endorsed their deputy: Undersheriff Brooks J. Bigwarfe and Deputy County Clerk Sandy Santamoor also received the executive committee's endorsement.
Local candidates receiving an endorsement at the meeting were Susan J. Bellor and Robert A. Elsner, who are running for each of the two Massena town councilman seats; and Ronald G. Robert, who is running as a Republican for Colton town councilman.
Republican designating petitions relative to each of these candidates -- and all candidates seeking election in the November general election -- are being circulated by county committee persons during the month of March.
