As a lifelong resident of St. Lawrence County, I must say how very disappointed (yet not surprised) that some of the Democrats on the board of legislators and public figures who represent the Democrats in this area have become Facebook trolls. Have they nothing better to do than to troll FB posts all day?

Obviously, the bigger issues that have been turned around like no longer borrowing $9 million a year to make payroll, getting ledgers reconciled, and thus being removed from the designation of being fiscally stressed have totally eluded the Democrats that are on some kind of a witch hunt over an individual’s right to free speech. Yes, even the FB police didn’t reprimand Rita Curran or remove her post.

So really what is the substance of this ridiculous and childish posturing going on by the Democrats? Could it possibly be that of the 15 legislators 9 are Republican and this leaves a nasty taste in their mouths?

Several individuals who wish to play the political party card have smeared Rita Curran with the broadest of brushes stating that she has “demonstrated that she does not have ethical or intellectual fortitude” and that the lack of action by the legislature “is a validation of Ms. Curran’s hatred and is an indictment”…seriously?

How many people know that Rita Curran is a family nurse practitioner who is affiliated with MMH, and CPH and provides care for veterans through the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center? Yet this is someone who according to Mark Bellardini, Mike Zagrobelny and Nance Arquette lacks ethics and intellectual fortitude and is full of hatred.

Mark and Mike take a deep breath and check your own hypocrisy with regard to ethics and intellectual fortitude, to begin with. As for Ms. Arquett, how deeply would you like your personal life picked through? As for Mr. Hammond, as a member of the U.S. Military you took an oath to defend this nation and the foundation it was built on. Do you remember the 2nd and 14th amendments? As for Dave Haggard, being a criminal lawyer and a banker, I would think that your ability to reason beyond this and to look at facts should have tempered your thought process prior to announcing that you would be pushing for the forced resignation of a board member. It seems the subjective has taken over the minds of individuals and all objectivity has been thrown out.

To call this grandstanding is an understatement. To the legislators, get on with the business of running this county. There is so much that needs to be done. We as residents deserve far better than this petty childish infighting over the most abhorrent, deleterious, divisive “social media” site every to intrude into our lives.

If you must be a FB troll do it on your own time and leave your comments there on FB, don’t bring them to the governing offices of this county.
