Food program for kids in Norwood gets $1,000 donation

Posted

The Community Lunch Program for Kids (Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville) has been very blessed during this pandemic with incredibly generous donations, which allow us to continue providing meals for children when school is not in session. We would like to give special recognition to J.C. Merriman's in Norwood for their incredibly generous donation of $1,000 to our program.

The Community Lunch Program for Kids has been distributing food every two weeks to over 90 families with well over 200 children since the schools were closed in mid-March. Even though the schools are providing breakfast and lunch at specified locations around the district, not all families can take advantage of this due to a variety of reasons. Also, many of the parents of our families who already faced food insecurity, have lost their jobs or have had their hours cut.

Since mid-March CLPK has served the equivalent of over 8,000 meals to local children. Each distribution costs approximately $1,000.

This incredibly generous donation by J.C. Merriman's covered the cost of one distribution or over 2,000 meals for our over 200 participating children.

It is because of the incredible kindness and generosity on the part of business, civic groups and individuals like J. C. Merriman's that allow us to continue to provide this service.

To put it very simply. We couldn't do it without them! Thank you.
