Friday, July 5, 2019 - 9:33 am

On behalf of the Canton Central 8th Grade(Class of 2023) we would like to take this opportunity to thank the following community members and businesses for donating to our annual Washington, DC trip: Edward Seymour VFW Post 1231, Auxiliary to Edward Seymour VFW Post 1231, BWS Tax Service, Frazer, North Country Savings, Parker Line Striping, Save- A- Lot, The Hoot Owl, Pat Collins Realty, and The Potsdam Elk’s Club.

We would also like to thank the community as a whole for buying pizzas, popcorn, candy bars and donating your cans and bottles. Your generosity allows our students to experience a life-changing trip to our nation’s capital.

During our trip we visited such landmarks as the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and the Supreme Court. In addition, we toured Mount Vernon, Ford’s Theater, the Holocaust Museum, and the Smithsonian Museums of Natural History and American History. Perhaps our proudest moment was the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

Thanks again for taking an active role in supporting the educational experiences of our youth and we hope you will continue to support us in the future. You are helping create knowledge and memories they will never forget.
