Valedictorian and salutatorian named at Hermon-Dekalb

DEKALB JUNCTION -- The valedictorian and salutatorian have been named at Hermon-DeKalb Central School for the Class of 2020.

Her academic achievements have earned her an overall grade point average of 97.82%. Leah will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with honors and mastery in math and science. Leah has earned twenty-six college credits.

Among the many honors and scholarships, Leah is a recipient of The University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, The Sage College Student Sage Award, The Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award, The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Rensselaer Medal Award, The United States Air Force Math and Science Award, the WWNY All Star Award and The Hermon-DeKalb Central School Junior Key Award for having the highest grade point average in her eleventh grade year.

Additionally, Leah was a member of both the varsity soccer and cheerleading teams. She served as co-captain of the soccer team and earned the Scholar Athlete Award, as well as the Athlete of Distinction and Outstanding Sportsmanship Award for cheerleading. She has held leadership positions as class president and president of both National Honor Society and Outing Club.

Leah was a valuable member of Chorus, Band, Jazz Band, Rock Ensemble, Drama Club, Student Council, Whiz Quiz, Yearbook, and HDTV. Leah also participated in the Horizons Program at Clarkson University and the HOBY Leadership Conference.

Leah plans to attend Skidmore College in the fall and study Liberal Arts.

Her academic achievement has earned her an overall grade point average of 94.46%. She will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation and has earned twenty-six college credits.

Among the many honors and scholarships Katharina is a recipient of The United States Air Force Math and Science Award, The University of Rochester Fredrick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award in Humanities and Social Sciences, The Sage College Student Sage Award, The Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award and the WWNY Arts All Star Award.

Additionally, Katharina was a member of the varsity soccer, cheerleading and softball teams and earned the Scholar Athlete Award. She held the leadership position of president and vice-president of her class and was a valuable member of Band, Rock Ensemble, Drama Club, Outing Club, Prom Committee, HDTV and National Honor Society.

Katharina plans to attend SUNY Cortland in the fall and study Criminology.
