The 2015 Adirondack All Star Long Course Team.

Sina Lufkin, Potsdam, recently represented Northern TRIBS Swimming as part of the Adirondack All Star Zone Team Aug. 5 to Aug. 8 in the 2015 Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championship in Richmond, Va.

The competition took place at the Collegiate School Aquatics Center, which houses the 2008 US Olympic Trials pool.

To qualify for the Adirondack All Star Zone Team required an AA USA Swimming cut time and a top finish during the recent Adirondack Championship.

The All Star team competed against 11 other swimming committees in the Eastern Zone of USA Swimming.

During this four day Championship, Lufkin competed in six individual events plus four relays: 50-meter butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke, 100-meter butterfly, 200 and 400-meter freestyle events including the 200 and 400-meter medley relay, and the 200 and 400-meter freestyle relays.

Lufkin improved her times in almost all events and set three new club records during the championship.

She swam past her old nine and ten 100-meter butterfly record by 5.51 seconds for a new time of 1:43.79. She also broke the 200 and 400-meter freestyle records.

Northern TRIBS Swimming’s Head Coach Joshua Jock was also a part of the All Star Team, sharing in Lufkin’s success.

“This was a unique experience for all the team members. All the swimmers swam fast and had a great time. Sina swims year-round with TRIBS and has earned this amazing opportunity. It really shows the competitiveness and dedication of our swimmers when they attend these Zone Championships,” Jock said.
